Six of Pentacles
Upright
Reversed
Upright Meaning
A wealthy merchant holds scales in one hand while distributing coins to two kneeling figures with the other. The scales represent fairness — he gives what is proportional and appropriate, not more, not less. The Six of Pentacles is the card of generosity, charity, and the healthy flow of resources between those who have and those who need.
This card can appear from either perspective: you may be the giver (in a position to share your resources, time, or knowledge) or the receiver (in a position of needing and being offered help). Either role carries dignity when the exchange is genuine.
The Six says: let resources flow. Money, help, knowledge, time — these are not static possessions to hoard. They are currents that serve everyone when they move.
Reversed Meaning
Generosity with strings attached. Giving to control. Receiving with conditions that create debt rather than gratitude. Power imbalance disguised as charity. Or: selfishness — refusing to share when sharing is clearly the right response.

Give if you can. Receive if you need to. The Six of Pentacles says both are acts of dignity when done honestly. The only indignity is the gift with invisible chains — and the only shame is refusing help that would save you.
